Born on July 11, 1941, in Stanley, WI, to Leo and Frances Shakal, Mary was a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, John Holewinski; her loving children, Donald (Judy) Holewinski, Jim (Jackie) Holewinski, Karen (Mark) Otterson, and Rick (Kim) Holewinski; her nine cherished grandchildren and bonus-grandchildren; and her eight adored great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Frances Shakal, and her siblings, Sr. Betty Shakal, Lawrence (Joyce) Shakal, Richard (Joann) Shakal, and Lucy (Edward) Samuels. She is survived by her siblings, Joe (Noreen) Shakal, Steve (Pat) Shakal, Tony (Diane) Shakal, Bill (Ginny) Shakal, Tom (Sharon) Shakal, Carl (Barb) Shakal, Ann (Ray) Soper, and Rita (Gary) Grohn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary’s creativity and talent were evident in her passion for sewing, woodworking, painting, and a variety of other unique crafts. She possessed a remarkable ability to master any new artistic endeavor that captured her interest. She loved to cook and was always eager to test out a new recipe.
